Why chocolate IS good for you!
Feeling guilty about that monstrous piece of chocolate cake you had last night? Please don’t! Researchers found that people who associate chocolate cake with guilt have less control over their eating, and are less successful at losing weight than people who associate chocolate cake with celebration. Skip the guilt and celebrate good times, come on!
Feeling cold and can’t stop coughing? A cup of hot chocolate might do the trick. The British National Health Service found that theobromine, an ingredient derived from cocoa, may help reduce activity of the vagus nerve, the part of the brain that triggers intense coughing. Sounds (and smells) like the perfect medicine for this season!
Craving another argument for that daily dose of chocolate? A recent study revealed that epicatechin, found in large amounts in cocoa, can repair the natural function of cortisol and thus acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Good news for people suffering from a chronic inflammatory disease like rheumatoid arthritis. Hot cocoa, cake or mousse: the choice is yours!
